Yes, We Can. Three words that moved a nation to make monumental changes. Three words that accomplished a feat many thought they would never witness in their lifetime. Three words that lifted the spirits of a nation fraught with bad news. Recession. War. Bankruptcy. Loss.
In spite of his name being Barack Hussein Obama. In spite of his being a bi-racial man in a country where racism is still rampant. In spite of being a relative newbie to politics. In spite of a nasty campaign run by opponents who tried to scare the American public with lies and innuendo. He became President-elect of the United States of America.
He is not an Arab....but so what if he were. He is not a Muslim....but so what if he were. The day needs to come when all people realize being of a particular heritage does not automatically make you a bad person. Having a particular religious affiliation does not automatically make you a bad person. You must judge a person by their actions.
I hope Americans will give Obama a little bit of time to try to improve their situation. After all, it took 8 years to get the country to where it stands today.
Thought for the day (or week or month)
Do you talk too much? Think about it.

I truly believe President elect Obama, was voted in because he was the man for the job.
Race religion color or creed, he presented himself in a very estute and eloquent manner.
I just find it rather odd that in a country where rights, freedoms and the right to bear arms are entrenched in a constitution, voiced with "matter of fact" get out of my way attitude, that Mr. Obama accepted his nomination behind 3" of bullet proof glass.
He will run a democratic and free society, behind closed doors, for his protection.
The only thing that could have made this victory sweeter, Melanie, would be that I could have voted for this man. Let us hope that he can bring about much needed change in his country. As the US goes, Canada goes, and, as a Canadian, I am filled with optimism and renewed hope.
Yeah.
I'm glad he won. I am. Sour and bitter that Clinton wasn't "the one" - but second best is still second best.
Now - I don't know a WHOLE lot about AMerican politics... but so help me - I can't stop raising a very suspicious eyebrow...and I can't put my finger on it.
Here's another take on Obama...just a small fraction, over-analytical - sure - but a "take" on it...uninformed or not...it's mine...
